What I've learned over my past year and some change here in the city is that you've really got to take your victories where you can get them. Today I've had two little victories already, and while I'm waiting for a third to complete the trifecta, I thought I'd go ahead and brag about my first two.

First, I walked into the office today and noticed that everyone slated to get an officemate already had the officemate's welcome box (full of office supplies, rather than what would clearly be more helpful and more highly coveted -- tequila) on the desk and name plate on the door. Everyone, that is, except for me. I was supposed to get one when 'lo and behold, with a little bit o' luck, she got switched into another group, and as such, changed offices so she could be closer to the people she's working with! What a great day indeed. So I have once again expanded my territory (I had previously had to reign in how much overflow I had going over to the other side). Ah, the taste of freedom.
The second little victory I had today, and arguably the more important one, is that our firm has returned to two-ply toilet paper! It was touch and go there for a little while at the end of the year. I don't know if maybe someone had perhaps incorrectly anticipated the firm's holiday needs when it came to toilet paper supply, but for a week or two at the end, we were operating on a skeleton crew, one-ply toilet paper basis. It was terrible. But today I learned that we are back to the soft, plush goodness of two-ply, and all is right in the world again.
I'll update you if and when I complete the trifecta.
