Don’t look now, but UVA is streaking. And I don’t mean the Lawn. UVA is on a season - unprecedented two game ACC win streak. That makes me both happy and sad, haha.
It was nice to finally see a smile on some of our players’ faces. They’ve worked hard this year and unfortunately have just been on the bad end of tough breaks. I suppose it’s karma for our football team stealing a few wins this season, and maybe for us being better than we should have been in basketball last year. Whatever the reason, it definitely sucks for our boys to come away with so many OT and 1- or 2-point losses. It hurts.
All that said, I took the liberty of recording the Cav Man video against NC State from the game. Enjoy. There are also updated pictures in the photo gallery, both from this game, from a brunch with Professor Kitch, and from a Super Tuesday Feb Club party.
Easily one of the cooler things I’ve ever seen, check out this video where over 200 people in one of the world’s largest train stations, Grand Central Station in New York, froze in place at exactly 2:30pm.
Finally, a win for UVA. We’re now looking at a sweep of Boston College this season and an impressive 2-9 ACC record after finishing as ACC Regular Season Co-Champions last year. Even if we win out the regular season, we’d probably be on the outside of the NCAA Tournament bubble, unfortunately. But it would mean we’re likely in the NIT and, given the number of OT games and one-point losses this season, we should be able to make a good run in that tournament. All of this is assuming we don’t win the ACC Tournament altogether, which is what I am still holding out for.
I’ve been called out for not updating my journal. Whoops. I have no good excuse. It’s also 2am and I am sleepy. So here is my bullet-point update/thoughts of the day.
I got a whiff of an upset at the UVA-Carolina game on Tuesday. Alas, we lost by a point. Story of the season. …except for when you consider Xavier. And Duke. And Clemson. OK, maybe not the story of the season.
Woohoo, a new SBA President has been elected. I am almost FREEEEEEEeeeeee!
I don’t know what to do with my time. I do know that I am scheduling golf lessons STAT.
Yesterday there was ice on my car, and this annoyed me because I had to sit and wait for it to defrost off the windshield because I am too cheap to have an ice scraper. Good story, huh?
Another thing that annoys me is how many c1alis and v1@gra emails I get daily. I’ve been responding to every one of them, “P1ease rem0ve m3 fr0m y0ur m@i1ing 1ist” but it seems to get worse and worse…I don’t know why.
I’m getting hungry again. I better go to sleep now before I find myself cooking something up in the kitchen. If I wake up and find my pillow gone, I’ll know what happened.
Take that, Punxsatawney Phil. Take your winter prediction and shove it up your butt. Today it was 72 degrees and sunny and awesome. This is exactly why I never want to leave Charlottesville!
I just saw someone walk into a wall in the library and laughed out loud. I now feel bad for him. Oops. I’m a jerk.
Also, way to go, Giants!
It’s February. This means it’s Feb Club time! Unfortunately, my performance is already disappointing at best - I’ve only been to the Three Easy Pieces party. Oops. It’s not my fault that all I want to do is to putz around.
Today was Groundhog’s Day. Unfortunately Punxatawney Phil has predicted another 6 weeks of winter. What does that little oversized rat know anyway?
Also doing prediction, it looks like Dave Leitao saw his shadow today and we’re in for another six weeks of bad basketball. I went to Blacksburg today with Roger and we were able to get some decent tickets to the UVA-Tech game. What pisses me off is that we were able to blow a HUGE double-digit lead to the dirty Hokies, losing to them 65-72 in OT, for the second time this season. Boo. What pisses me off even more is the fans. Despite our best efforts to be obnoxious (yet sportsmanlike and not offensive), the fans around us were all good sports and actually almost pleasant to us. Grrrr. I mean, I am able to walk out of these types of losses knowing that I’m a better human being than they are. When they are actually civil to us, it becomes harder to do that. Boo.
