W!

Saturday, September 9th, 2006

Phew.  I didn’t post after last week’s poor showing because, as you’ve read below, I will deny a loss until the following win.  And so hooray, we pulled off a win.  I don’t need to harp on the poor showing this week as well, but there are just a couple points I wanted to make.

1.  How about our defense?  I wasn’t expecting much out of them (and, to be honest, I didn’t get much out of them), but they were certainly decent today.  Goalline stop?  Money.  Of course, 4th and 13?  Not so money.

2.  Our real problem lies in our offense.  What was it…our special teams block a punt so that it’s first and 10 on the 13…and by the time it’s 4th down, it was 4th and 14 on the 17?  That was just bad.  Luckily our special teams pulled 3 points out of that.

3.  How money would it have been to have made that 50+ yard field goal?  MAN.  So close!

4.  There WAS TOO undisputable evidence!!  I and the other 60,000+ fans saw it!

5.  The UVA student section is not loud.  At all.  I sat in the suites on the opposite side of the hill, and I couldn’t hear them even when I strained my ears.

6.  Lastly, let’s talk about how it was something like the 4th quarter before we finally broke 100 total offensive yards?  That’s just sad.

I have pictures up though.  I spent the day in the Williams Mullen suite, which was pretty sweet.  Get it?

Dandelion 2006

Dandelion 2006

Dandelion was fun last year as a 1L. We got all dressed up, we made hard drinks, we danced, laughed, and, ultimately, won. It was a good time indeed.

Dandelion is even more fun when you’re not a 1L. We didn’t have to dress up, we drank hard drinks, we danced, laughed, and, ultimately, won (in the sense of, who isn’t a winner when drinking? (Employers, if you’re reading this, please don’t read too deeply into that sentence)). My kids (Section B ‘09) did a phenomenal job and I gotta say I’m proud of them. At least they didn’t do something lame like 40s and Funnels (Sorry, Jane). But yeah, my section did Battle of the Bs: Bring It On Cheerleaders vs. Backstreet Boys (Bonus points for alliteration). Basically, in sum, they’re awesome. You can see pictures of the debauchery in the Photo Album.

Here’s a video of the guys’ dance:

Stomach Explosion

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

Oh. My.  Goodness.  I don’t know who’s bright idea it was to have a lunch buffet at an Ethiopian restaurant, to place it conveniently close to the school, and to require Ethiopian food to be eaten with that ever-inflating bread, but I want to kill that person / those persons right now.  I mean right now.  Ericka, Sarah and I went there for lunch and I’m fairly positive that at some point before the end of this post, my stomach may very well explode.  Wait…is that…no.  That wasn’t it.  I am still in one piece.  But perhaps not for long.  I’m going to go now, before this gets disastrous.

We are in…

for a very, very rough season.  At least McCabe got warmed up on Saturday.

THE TIME HAS COME!!!

Saturday, September 2nd, 2006

Oh man oh man.  There are only two seasons in my life.  Football and Basketball.  In between there are some other things like LaX season, soccer season, and other various things that get me through the days.  But during the summer.  Oh man.  It’s been rough.  Sure there’s that whole World Cup thing, but meh.  But as I sit here basking in the beauty that is college football, I feel like I’ve returned to heaven.  I got burgers and hot dogs and charcoal all ready to go.  Plus tonight they’re showing the UVA-Pitt game in the new John Paul Jones Arena, so I’m super excited about that.  Ooh.  Commercial’s over.  Must go back to sitting in front of the TV.
